Precise and crafted for each role
Special effects makeup can either be created by using pre-formed casts or custom made. The method depends upon the availability of quality items to create the proper look, the time frame for the shoot, and the project budget.
Starting with the Director’s vision, I bring characters to life by either receiving sketches of the proposed effects or I work from scratch to sketch and develop the look and personality of the character or “creature”. I prepare custom effects that are applied to the actor, and I also prepare any practical effects that are used in action scenes.
For full body effects, I either design alone or work in collaboration with a special effects house team to create the body suits, masks, and applications. Paying careful attention to the sketches and specifications, I consider the lighting and cameras to be used and always create an impactful, memorable character.
